My BMW Z3 was stolen from the Hillcroft Garage in Langstone, Newport in July 2006. Direct Line Insurance paid the wrong person for it, Royal Sun Alliance haven’t repaired it. Find out the full story here.
I’ve been asking RSA to fix my car for as long as I can remember and their incompetence knows no bounds, so now I throw the question open to the general public. Do you think Royal & SunAlliance WILL actually fix my car?
Remember now, they’ve admitted liability and have said they’ll fix it, but obviously it’s been 16 months now since it was stolen and I’ve seen no sign whatsoever of them actually getting off their arse and doing it. So you decide, right here, right now in the first Mr Daz poll.
So I phoned Royal & SunAlliance again yesterday hoping to speak to Zoe Banks and find out if she’s planning to fix my car sometime, which has been awaiting repairs since July 2006. Unfortunately not only did I not get to speak to Zoe Banks but the number diverted to someone’s mobile, someone who doesn’t even work for RSA. Seems they’d set up a divert to a chap at Cable and Wireless… class.
Luckily he was from the same building and he gave me Zoe Bank’s direct number, which I’ll share with you now: 01179 416 869. Obviously she didn’t answer, and my attempts to call the switchboard again finally saw me get through to the same guy I phoned Friday, who again promised someone would phone me back.
Naturally they didn’t, so I’ll be calling again today, and again tomorrow, and then again Thursday and every day for the rest of his life until one day, a long time from now, Royal & SunAlliance actually fix my fucking car.
This morning I telephoned Royal & SunAlliance once again about my car that was stolen 16 months ago now, in July 2006. You might remember that I sent them a final demand letter in September instructing them to fix my car and to pay me what they owe me. The letter was addressed to Zoe Banks, and naturally she hasn’t responded some 6 weeks later.
So this morning I phoned her up. Surprisingly she was on the other line and someone insisted I’d get a call back today about my car, as I explained that I’d been waiting 16 months for them to fix it and thought I’d waited long enough. Again the person apologised for my distress, as they always do.
Guess what? That’s right, I haven’t had a call back.
But then, why would I get a call back? Why would an insurance company actually fix a car they’re liable to fix? That would be crazy, like this whole situation. Suffice to say I will keep calling them and keep exposing their lies, broken promises and their utter failure to do their job right here on MrDaz.com – unless of course they actually fix my car…
You couldn’t make this up. Not content with paying out the wrong person when my car is stolen and refusing to compensate me for the last 12 months, Direct Line Insurance have just emailed me (well, my ex wife, but it’s my domain) to ask if I have a BMW Z3 and if I require car insurance through them.
Are you fucking kidding me?
Why would I insure my Z3 with Direct Line Insurance when they’ve already paid out on it, to someone else?
This would make a good avert.
Customer: I’m tired of insurance companies that pay out when I need them.
Voice-over: At Direct Line, it’s our policy to pay out someone else when your car is stolen, place a stolen marker on the car and try to repossess the car from you when it is recovered.
Customer: That’s better
In fact, I think I might shoot that advert. Direct Line Insurance, you have been warned.
I took these photographs of my car the other week with a view to eBaying the bastard because I’m fed up waiting for the wankers at Royal & SunAlliance to actually fix it, like they should have done 15 months ago last July. You can see the damage to the back of the car and the ariel that has been ripped off. Both of these things need fixing, but RSA just can’t seem to be arsed god bless ’em.
I guess it must be difficult, fixing a car that you’re responsible for and you’ve admitted liability for and you’ve stated that you will actually fix within a 2 year timescale. Maybe they’re waiting for it to rot away so there’s no evidence?
Whatever the reason, the fact remains that my car isn’t fixed and Royal & SunAlliance are still dragging their feet over doing the work. I can see me leaving this in my will for my descendants to get fixed.
I guess what we’ve learned from all of this is: If you want to use an insurance company that does fuck all when you’re car is stolen, use Royal & SunAlliance. They’ve their own special brand of ‘We couldn’t give a twat’ philosophy.
I certainly will never use them for anything and I urge anyone who actually expects an insurance company to ‘act’ when you need them to do the same.
Google maps have been updated with new satellite images, showing my stolen BMW Z3 outside my frikin’ house.
You can see it there in the middle of the photo, the red BMW Z3 with the black roof. If only Direct Line Insurance were as efficient as Google, I might have actually got the damn thing back on the road 15 months later… and still counting.
This is quite extraordinary, and the timing is impeccable. I’ve just received an email from Direct Line Insurance asking if I’d like to renew my ex wife’s car insurance with them.
Let me think for a second… erm, no. No thank you. It’s ironic isn’t it. They pay the wrong person for my car when it is stolen, insist they did nothing wrong and even con me into giving them my V5… then they ask if I’d like to use them for insurance on my ex-wife’s car?
Chris Moat, you run a tight ship there at Direct Line Insurance. Luckily with MrDaz.com now page 1 on google.co.uk for your name people will start to see just what happens when you insure with Direct Line.
Chris Moat is the managing director of Direct Line insurance and the person who decided I wasn’t going to be compensated when they paid out the wrong person after my car was stolen. The reason I’m writing this particular post is because Chris Moat has been one of my referring keywords of late as I’m ranking in Google for his name. I’m not ranking high enough because I haven’t optimised for it, until now.
I imagine that when this blog shows up on the first page of Google for Chris Moat it will be a little embarrassing for Direct Line because everyone will see what they have done with regards to my stolen BMW Z3. In fact, if we get #1 for Christ Moat that would be highly embarrassing for Direct Line. Let’s see what happens folks 😉
