MrDaz.com ranks Page 4 in Google for Direct Line Insurance

Well this is an interesting, yet not unexpected turn of events. In my effort to rank #1 in Google for the name of the MD of Direct Line Insurance, one Mr Chris Moat, I have crept up the listings for none other than ‘Direct Line Insurance’.

Imagine what potential customers must think if they search for Direct Line and find my website, complete with a history of what Direct Line Insurance did to me regarding my stolen BMW Z3.

It won’t look good for them. Anyhow, have a look at this screenshot of Google’s SERPs.

MrDaz.com ranks #2 in Google for Chris Moat

Would you look at this. My quest to rank in Google for the name of the MD for Direct Line Insurance, Chris Moat is almost complete. MrDaz.com now ranks in Google.com and Google.co.uk at #2 for ‘Chris Moat’, prompting loads of angry Direct Line Insurance customers to find my site and leave their comments.

We should be #1 very soon. Ah, the simple pleasures of SEO.

Direct Line Google

I look forward to Direct Line Insurance themselves getting in touch with their thoughts.

Chris Moat

Chris Moat is the managing director of Direct Line insurance and the person who decided I wasn’t going to be compensated when they paid out the wrong person after my car was stolen. The reason I’m writing this particular post is because Chris Moat has been one of my referring keywords of late as I’m ranking in Google for his name. I’m not ranking high enough because I haven’t optimised for it, until now.

I imagine that when this blog shows up on the first page of Google for Chris Moat it will be a little embarrassing for Direct Line because everyone will see what they have done with regards to my stolen BMW Z3. In fact, if we get #1 for Christ Moat that would be highly embarrassing for Direct Line. Let’s see what happens folks 😉

Google says YES to cloaking

Doug the Ninja of the SEO Ninjas has found an interesting discovery on Google. It seems the boys from the G are allowing sites to advertise with them under their Adwords program for the term SEO, and all they do is build doorway pages and cloaking pages for their clients.

What this means is the website Google is promoting is in direct violation of their webmaster guidelines. Sounds like a little bit of hypocrisy to me.

Insurance company keeps tabs on MrDaz.com

While checking my website stats this morning I noticed a very interesting referral from an unknown source. It seems that 7 times between September 8th and September 22nd I have received visitors from a desktop application that checks claims history…

Interesting. This means that my website has a link pasted into it in someone’s application at an Insurance company, and they’ve been regularly clicking on the link to view my site. Obviously unknowing that I can track them. Now the question is, is this Royal & Sun Alliance or is it Direct Line?

Whoever it is, their reference in the database for my site is: 67752 – as you can see from this screen shot of my stats from Google Analytics.

Insurance statistics

Hello people from the Insurance company! Nice to see you frequent my website. If it’s Direct Line looking at my site, don’t worry, the financial ombudsman will be in touch shortly, but if it’s Royal & Sun Alliance as I suspect, deal with my last letter as instructed. Fix my damn car as you should have done over a year ago and send me the money you owe me.

If you spent more time dealing with your claims and doing your job instead of browsing my (admittedly very amusing) website you wouldn’t have any of the trouble you have now.
