HDNL Complaints

The delivery company Home Delivery Network (HDNL), who deliver for Internet retailer Amazon, have managed to annoy a great many people online. My posts on the subject have received hundreds of comments from outraged customers and idiotic, vulgar and racist drivers for HDNL alike. Most of the customers have been trying in vain to get hold of someone at HDNL to locate their delivery, but there is no phone number on the company’s website.

Luckily, I have it. The phone number for HDNL is 08448 111 816 – but don’t expect to get anywhere when you phone it.

One thing I did notice in Google when I searched for HDNL (besides this very website of course) was the website reviewcentre.com. Anyone who runs a dodgy business like HDNL will know all about reviewcentre.com, the website shows up on the first page of Google for searches on every dodgy company you can think of (try it ;)).

The funny thing about the site is that when companies like HDNL get listed on there, and get awful reviews from their customers, they all tend to react the same way. They go onto the website themselves and submit fake reviews of their business, with really obvious made up comments. You can tell they’re fake because the real reviews all give them 0/10, whereas the staff of HDNL give themselves 10/10… that’s quite a discrepancy!

Plus, the idiotic staff of HDNL who have reviewed their own company have all tended to add reviews as ‘guest’ writers, rather than having the good sense to create an account, log in and write a few genuine reviews for other companies before spamming their own listing.

Don’t any companies know how to perform reputation management online?

I guess not.

So again, if you want to complain to HDNL, you can ring the Home Delivery Network phone number: 08448 111 816. Mention this website for extra annoyance factor!

  1. *Worst customer service in the history of mankind* My order was scheduled last week still havent received it. Called HNDL and JD Sports about 20 times, nothing but lies, lies, lies. Both companies treat a customer like fools…neva again will I enter a JD Sport store in my life. Have been ordering goods online from other firms but nothing like this has ever happend to me. I requested my money back.

  2. What a useless company. There delivery driver throws things in the door to you, most of the time does not allow you to sign for things, and certainly will not allow you to sign for things as dammaged. The driver is rude and the company will only accept complaints by EMAIL!
I now try not to use any company that has it’s deliveries done by HDNL.

  3. HDNL – a complete waste of time. If you want to get some action, email their head of customer services on elaine.boyle@hdnl.co.uk.

Having got the usual degenerate garbage from the call centre and depots (when they answer), I decided to go to the top of the tree. I have been waiting for a week for a delivery and no-one in the HDNL world can tell me the location of my parcel, nor can they tell me when it will be delivered. I appreciate the weather is bad, but the Edinburgh depot has received several lorry-loads of goods from the Droitwich hub, which is where my parcel is; they have also told me, and I quote, that it is “ridiculous” that my parcel was not in any of these lorries. I have been trying to call the Droitwich hub for two hours now and they just don’t pick up. When I speak to the call centre, I get told that nothing is moving due to the bad weather, which is a load of rubbish, as I mentioned the Edinburgh depot has had several lorry loads over the weekend. Also, every time I call the call centre I get some extremely disinterested, rude scouser who hasn’t the first clue what they’re talking about, and who haven’t been blessed with the ability to string together a coherent sentence.

I can’t see how HDNL survive in today’s economic and customer services-focused climate with their abhorrently shocking levels of customer service, sub-normal call centre operatives, and a complete lack of respect for other peoples’ belongings.

As for the idiot HDNL workers who moan about their long hours – you should have tried harder at school and got a degree and PhD like me, then you wouldn’t have to do such a menial job. You deserve the abuse and long hours for being so thick.

  4. I think I know what is wrong here – most of the Drivers are of the opinion that a person buying stuff ought to then stay intheir home from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, on the off chance that the goods will be delivered. If they are not, they should have known better! So, the subsequent awful communications (and that is all that is wrong here mainly) are left the way they are to PUNISH the silly old customers who have stepped outside their homes. The snag with this world view is that a) to buy stuff you need money b) to get money you usually have to go to work c) most people don’t work from home. So, to follow this logic to its conclusion – HDNL will o nly have customers who are retired or on benefits. And they have less money than workers SO you might end up with no work at all. BTW, they have seized up entirely this last week, even here where there is no bad weather at all. Their solution – to attempt to deliver up to 3 times before sending stuff back to its source – no depot collections or appointed delivery times to be offered – gosh that will work! Will the online sellers be happy when they get shedloads of Xmas sales returned to them? It had not occurred to my supplier till I pointed it out and then he went very quiet. Mind you, he thought the suspension of depot collections and rescheduled deliveries was only started today (6 December) when in fact it started on or before 2nd December!.. I won’t buy from them ever again, nor from anyone who uses HDNL and I spend lots of money every year online.

  5. I have many issues with HDNL, the least of which are the hopeless delivery drivers! An address query? Seriously? Have you not heard of Sat Nav or Google maps?! Even an A to Z? Trying to get my parcel delivered has ended in rude and racist ‘conversations’ with people in the Wembley depot. After several hours on the internet I have found several means of ranting – this website, a free phone number (closed tonight but I will be ringing in the morning) 0800 0515506, hdn@hdnl.co.uk and the email address of the operationals director Paul Mohan paul.mohan@yodel.co.uk. I have had a response from Paul Mohan this evening but suspect it was automated as it it 10.30pm! We’ll see what happens tomorrow!

  6. I’m in the midst if trying to track down a £200 parcel for Christmas that was “delivered” yesterday and left in an “Outbuilding”. I phoned the depot it came from (Leamington which is a good 60 miles from where I live) and they said they’ll contact the delivery driver to see where he left it. BTW, no card was left, I only knew it had been “delivered” because of the website status.

Thankfully I paid by credit card and I’ve already emailed the company I bought the gift from to warn them. Don’t want to be having to wait 3-4 weeks to get this sorted, as like I said, this is a xmas present.

I await with trepidation as to the outcome…

PS Use SAYNOTO0870.COM to find your local depot number to avoid the 10p per minute phone charge.

  7. Looks like Paul Mohan is the man to escalate problems to – parcel delivered tonight, as arranged with a miniature christmas tree as a gesture of goodwill.
I’m not finished with them yet, but it’s a good start!
    Paul.Mohan@yodel.co.uk

  8. After a bit of phoning and a promise the delivery driver would come round and show where it was left, it turns out it was delivered to a different address! Mistakes happen and it’s how companies deal with them that matter and I have to say, Liam at Leamington Spa who I spoke with was excellent. I now have the parcel and panic stations are over.

In fact I’m going to email Paul Mohan and Mark Albiston and commend Liam for his customer service.

  9. I send and recive hundred of parcels a year and this was the first time i have ever recived one via hdnl.

14 days later still no parcel, apparently it was deliverd yesterday, i was home all day nothing has arrived and no card left either.

I have rang them sevaral times in the last 2 days, each time i get told to ring back later after they have spoke to the driver, there has been no progress atall, and i am going to the depot in the morning and i am gunna park my car infront of the gate until i get ansawers.

I WILL NEVER USE ANOTHER COMPANY THAT USE HDNL.

This company should be on watchdog, they are a disgrass to the postal service.

  10. Ordered a book last week (30th Nov) which was dispatched from Amazon on the 1st Dec, and since then has been sitting in the HDNL Hull depot. Apparently they cannot deliver due to “adverse weather conditions”. Granted that there was some heavy snow last week, however I know for a fact that all of the main roads are open now, and how they can’t deliver a parcel to a main road in York is beyond belief.

All of the other parcels I have received from Amazon come via Royal Mail, and normally within a few days. God help us all when the Tory bastards put it out to privatisation – I can see another HDNL being created here – all for the profits to go to shareholders and two fingers up to the customer.

Quite a few HDNL drivers on here – wonder how many of them can read a map properly. Suppose it is better than them being on the dole – or is it?

  11. In response to the HDNL drivers who say they try their best and that the HDNL company as a whole is structured to delivery bas service, I am sorry this is the work environment you deal with on a daily basis and I appreciate that you continue to motivate yourselves despite your company’s shortfalls…

On the other hand, for the drivers and customer service employees from HDNL who are moaning about other people moaning, try to understand this. The world isn’t perfect, and given you are in a client-facing job, there are chances you may not get along with the client. However, this is your JOB, not your fun hobby where you choose what you get to do. You get paid to represent a company, so do your job and represent it well. It is not your choice whether you like somebody or not or appreciate how they talk to you. Waiters are trained that the customer is always right, and even if they’re not, this is what brings back business and brings in money i.e. the point of a company. Perhaps you’d be getting better bonuses and making the rude customers feel guilty, if you handled their issues with a bit more class. They may not have class but it doesn’t mean you can’t. You are feeding the vicious circle of bad service by generalizing based on a few rude customers. Also, hate to say this but it’d the truth, if you want a job where you’re going to get 100% respect and get your way all day long, get an education! And even then, your chances of fulfilling this criteria are slim. So quit idealizing the world and expecting that everyday you’re going to get smiley faced customers. Do your job, accept that you’re not educated and this may be one of the few jobs you can get. If you prefer happy smiley people, get a job at a theme park or something. Point is, you are expecting more from customers than people who have invested thousands into getting good jobs expect. Reality check, jobs aren’t always meant to be easy and fun. Deal with it. You will enjoy your life better and feel like a better person if you don’t let other people’s crap bring down your whole day.

My nespresso machine has been stuck in your company depot for over a week. I am still smiling. I am not throwing abuse at anybody the point of this message is simply to give constructive feedback to all parties.

As for Amazon, I do not understand the reasoning of maintaining HDNL as a delivery service provider given the amount of complaints. The Royal Mail do the job perfectly and keep things at the post office for you. Brand Management tip: fire HDNL. No matter how long the contract you have signed is for, HDNL have breached the Company’s Act of 2006 in that they are failing to provide a service that enhances value to customers and even supports their own firm. It is a threat to your own company’s success and therefore the CA’06 allows disolution of the contract. You would think Amazon marketers and lawyers would have exercsed this right already!

  12. I am waiting for a delivery from HDNL which is at the depot in Lincoln where I live it has been there 4 days now and they won’t let me pick it up because the say they have a backlog, I told the idiot girl that the best way to make it better is to allow people to pick up their own parcels and to designate staff to do this, she agreed but said she did not have the authority to do so.
The annoying thing is the van from Droitwich got through to Lincoln depot ok but the drivers they employ just can’t drive unless the conditions are perfect they are women who want a bit of spare cash who only deliver where they want to, they make me sick

  13. I’ve never heard of HDNL up until now. I made an order off RiverIslands online store over 3weeks ago just as the weather in london was getting better, there hasnt been snow for over two weeks now and im still waiting!! I have seen so many royal mail vans and other services making deliveries up and down my street an yet HDNL still havent managed to come through! What kind of delivery company doesnt have a customer helpline on there website?! I checked the status of my parcel on there site and could see it finally got loaded on to a van! SHOCK HORROR! But now i see the lastest update an the dopey driver reckons its been delivered but it hasnt!! When i phoned Riverisland to stress at them they said its not been signed for either which makes it even worse as now they have to find out which prat claims to have dropped my parcel off an where!! Im not suprised at all these complaints,im glad i found this site. I needed to get it off my chest lol

  14. The laptop I ordered from Tesco Direct was picked up by the shower HDNL on 2nd December and has now been sitting in the Gatwick Centre since 7th December. I am not allowed to go and pick it up as they say they will not be able to find it!!! There is still no scheduled delivery date despite repeated calls to them on an almost daily basis, as well as promises from them that they will print out a slip and hand it to a driver. I have been checking the UPI number several times a day, still marked as arrived at the gatwick Centre on 7th December. I would strongly advise anybody ordering anything online to check out who the courier will be, and not to order anything from any company that uses HDNL or as they have renamed themselves, Yodel. I have not got any promise of any delivery date from either HDNL, nor from tesco Direct. What a shower. I will never use either company ever again.

  15. Biggest bunch of fucking lazy bastard cowboys on the planet, On par with the reckless bankers imo..

There are 2 HDNL drivers in my area 1 is a taxi driver that over charges peoples on their fares and makes deliverys with passengers in his cab ?? And the other is an alcoholic that is always in the Queens Head pub.. NICE !!!

Horse shit drivers, horse shit company, total horse shit…

  16. ….and now HDN won’t even tell me when they can redeliver as they have cancelled all facility to rebook deliveries due to ‘poor weather’. Funny, coz all the other mail operators are still working okay.

It seems they will will redeliver when they feel like it. Okay, so let’s go collect it from their depot…Ooops! No I can’t – due to weather!! Surely it’s up to me to know if i can get to their ****ing depot? Love the ‘Yodel’ website:

“Welcome to a new way of thinking. At Yodel we believe there’s a better way. A way that gives greater convenience for your customers and tailored, more efficient services for businesses. Yodel has the scale and capacity to make it happen. It’s your delivery, so it should be your call how it works. Your Yodel experience will be, quite simply, the widest choice and an unrivalled service delivered with a can-do attitude. And a smile.”

    A can-do attitude???????????????

    What a load of shit.

  17. I don’t understand why Amazon still use them and even
defends them! A few months ago, I had a problem with an order I
made from Amazon that was to be delivered by HNDL. It never showed
up so I contacted Amazon who said HNDL had been unable to find my
address and insinuated I made an error. I confirmed my address
nonetheless. HNDL tried to deliver again but failed miserably. I
contacted both Amazon and HNDL by phone and made sure they both had
the spe;;ing right and the exact location of my house. Epic failure
insued once again. After many emails from Amazon they begged me to
give them another chance. I didn’t – until I needed Christmas
presents. Long story short – meant to be delivered by HNDL who
epically failed once again. I’m furious :S

  18. Hi I am a driver for Royal Mail. The only reason any of
these courier companys get there items delivered,is because there
always asking us for directions. We also have a Tracked item
contract with Amazon, and deliver every item or put a card through.I
hear people bemoaning Royal Mail but when you look at the
competition are we really that bad.P.S. We have the ability to
    spell aswell.

  19. @Jay I agree. I have no problem with Royal Mail at all. You
guys just need to stop striking so companies have no excuse to
replace you with someone utterly ineffective. Can you tell yet I
    have problems with HDNL? :p

  20. I HAVE WAITED IN ALL DAY FOR HDNL TO DELIVER TWO PAIRS OF TROUSERS .. I DID NOMINATED DELIVERY AND THEY SAID MY PACKAGE WILL BE WITH ME NO LATER THAN TUESDAY… REALLY PISSED OFF!

  21. My HDNL saga has gone on for months now. I have been
waiting for 3 packages from the same company – the first was sent
out in September. They attempted delivery of the first package and
left a card. I arranged to collect and they couldn’t find the
package. Someone was to call me back the following day and there
was no call. When they left more cards the website wouldn’t allow
the rescheduling or collect from depot and it got harder and harder
to get through to HDNL. When I finally got through they had sent
the parcels back claiming that they had been refused delivery.
Since they did not try to redeliver to the address on the package I
can only assume that they tried to give the package to a complete
stranger. Some of the packages reached the sender and i have since
received one of them. i have a missed delivery for another which I
will attempt to collect over the weekend and the third package is
still AWOL – am chasing the sender. Unacceptable behaviour /
conduct. Shockingly bad. Do not use this company.

  22. I’ve recently had 2 collections booked with HDNL. The first
one consisted of multiple parcels to be delivered to different UK
destinations. The collection was booked for 24th December 2010 and
I was a little bit worried about them being collected with it being
Christmas Eve. I was pleased to see the driver arrive and I was
informed by customers that their items turned up on time. The
second, again consisted of multiple parcels, 6 to be exact,
delivered to different UK destinations. I booked the collection for
30th December 2010 but HDNL failed to collect. I contacted HDNL in
the evening and I was told that the driver attempted the collection
at 1.30pm and had left a card. When I heard this, I was a little
confused. I was up and about at 6am and stayed downstairs all day.
Any noise I heard I was straight at the window. No vans had entered
my street and no-one had knocked at my door. No card was left. The
lady on the phone was nice enough and apologised, saying the driver
must have went to the wrong address. She said she could arrange for
collection the next day and when voicing my concerns with it being
New Years Eve, she assured me it was fine and so we agreed 31st
December 2010 for collection. So woke up nice and early. I decided
to contact the call centre just after 9am to check the collection
was definitely on. Spoke to a different lady and once I gave my
reference numbers, I was told that no collection had been arranged.
I explained I’d called the evening before and spoke to a different
person but she confirmed nothing was booked. I was a little angry
but kept the phone conversation polite. I was then told that
collection couldn’t be made until January 5th 2011. I agreed to the
collection date. Again woke up really early and called just after
9am to check the collection was booked. Was informed that
collection was arranged and that my PARCEL would be collected that
day. I asked the gentleman what he meant by PARCEL and he said
there was a collection for 1 parcel arranged. I told him I had 6
parcels to go and provided all the parcel numbers. He informed me
that the van had already left so he couldn’t add the remaining 5 on
the van that day. So, we arranged collection for the 5 parcels for
the next day, January 6th 2011. The driver turned up and collected
the single parcel. January 6th 2011, TODAY. I called again to check
on the collection and to my disbelief, I was told only one parcel
was to be collected. That takes the count to FOUR failed
collections. I decided enough was enough and requested a refund on
the four parcels still unassigned. I honestly don’t know what’s
gone wrong. I was in on the original collection date and then I was
told on three separate occasions that collection was arranged and
guaranteed to happen. I’m not the type of person to usually
complain but the service I was given was the worst I’ve received
off anyone. I asked for an explanation today but I was unable to
ascertain an answer. I’ve only come across this site because i’m
looking for an email address for HDNL to pass on my views. If a
company can explain to me how something went wrong and what they’re
doing about it, it gives me confidence to give them another chance.
When I get no explanation, I tend to avoid like the plague. HDNL
have not even entertained the idea on the phone.

  23. Another failed delivery here, no calling card just ‘parcel retuned to depot’ (Tracking)
I’m not going to get into a slagging match with anybody, here or elsewhere, but this COMPANY and its (mis)management need taking to task. If you get a ‘bad’ driver blame the management, they are the ones who hired him, and the company needs to shoulder the blame!

Regardless, I personally know how frustrating these 0870 automated numbers are (I’ve NEVER spoke to a human being yet!) so this may be of use to all. This link will take you to 192.com with all the depots listed and their ‘real’ (01-02) phone numbers.
    http://www.192.com
Just search for ‘home delivery network’

  24. THIS IS A PUBLIC WARNING! THIS IS A PULIC WARNING!

    TODAYS DATE: 31st JANUARY 2011

HDNL what a crock of sh**e, i will never be dealing with any company that uses this company again. i tracked my parcel from their oldbury depot : loaded onto the van 07.38, unloaded off their van back at the same depot at 12.30, loaded back onto their van 13.02, and back in their depot by 15.30 this has been going on for 4 days so far. they told me that their driver had tried to deliver this item,, what a lie… im house bound so no way was i out when they tried to make the delivery, in fact no missed calling card was ever put through my front door. if you go onto their website there is a box which you can fill in to make new delivery arrangements, but without the ref # (on the said missed delivery card) you cannot get any further on. they are full of sh*t, a F***ing joke of a company.
yes im pissed off with them, in fact im totally pissed off with them.
ive just found this site (glad i did) and was shocked to see how many complaints this company has had and are still getting daily.
there should be something that can be done about these 2 bit delivery companies.
maybe trading standards should take a look at this company as they are not giving the service that they are advertising, therefore i would have thought that this would qualify as false advertising.
by the way, the company that i bought my goods from is CLARKS SHOES, so if you are thinking of ordering anything from CLARKS SHOES, “DONT” i repeat “DONT”. i complained to CLARKS but sorry is’nt cutting it with me today and it certainly didnt put shoes on my feet.
i threatened to cancel my order with CLARKS and was told i could, but i would have to wait until my parcel was delivered and then i am return it to them and wait 3 to 4 weeks before my money would go back into my account. whats that all about then??
i don’t remember saying to them “i’ll pay for my shoes in the next 3 to 4 weeks after they deliver them to me” oh yeah i forgot to add “thats if i decided i liked them”
what happened to the good old days, when the customer was always right. these days they more or less tell you, if you dont like it
“DO ONE”. i really do hope and prey this company folds, as many companies are doing these days during this recession. believe me when i say, i would love this company to fail. i can assure you, they would NOT be missed.
i think that whoever is in charge at the OLDBURY DEPOT should be INSTANTLY SACKED.
a BAD WORKFORCE is run by BAD MANAGEMENT and therefore THEY SHOULD BE SACKED! as they are doing the company no favours whatsoever.
i am more than happy to put my name to any poll or complaints forum about this company for what its worth.
im just tacking my parcel as im writing this and guess what?? yes you’re right, its just turned up back at the depot.
i cant believe this…. ive just rang them to ask why my parcel is back at there depot… can you guess what their reply was to me.
    yes you’re right again….
they said their driver had tried to deliver my parcel at 4.10pm but there was nobody home.
i was sitting no more than 8 feet from my front door with my living room door wide open writing this complaint. what lying little b*****ds they are, whats more is no “sorry we missed you card” no surprises there then??
well i think ive slagged them off enough for now, in fact i should’nt be slagging them off again due to the fact that i won’t be using any company who deals with this company ever again AND THAT’S A FACT.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE…. if you ever come across any company using HDNL “HOME DELIVERY NETWORK LTD” AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE.

PS. IVE BOUGHT CLARKS SHOES FOR YEARS BUT I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT THIS IS THE LAST PAIR OF CLARKS SHOES THAT WILL BE GOING ON MY FEET.

TAKE HEED YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

  25. I’ve been trying to get a redelivery for a saturday as i work (as most people) 9-6 during the week. My parcel has been attempted to be delivered 3 times now and rather than leaving it with a neighbour its been taken back to the depo 30 miles away, i’ve tried rearranging it everytime but theres NO WEEKEND option!!!! Is my parcel destined to to forever be left at the depo?????? How can you run a service like this!!!! How can you run a delivery company and NOT deliver on Weekends!!!! Absolute Shambles!!!!!!!

  26. I have sent 3 parcels with HDNL they left my house on Tuesday, 2 arrived on thursday fine. It is now Friday night and I have been chasing the customer services since this morning at ten to ten. Their tracking number is showing the parcel as not having moved from a warehouse in South London since Tuesday lunchtime (the delivery address is N Yorkshire).

HDNL ordered a warehouse search as soon as I phoned, but when I phoned back after 4:00pm they just asked me to phone back tomorrow.

My problem is this a chainsaw, sometimes I loose my car keys but if they cannot find a chainsaw they are either not looking hard enough (work shy) or one of their employees has taken it (thieving).

Customer services are very nice but just ask you to phone back.

  27. I’ve just waited in all afternoon for a router to arrive from Virgin Media delivered by HDNL. HDNL texted me twice. Once to say what day it would be delivered, and then again this morning to promise me a time slot of between 12pm and 3pm. Great, I thought, that’s good service. 3pm came and went, no parcel. By 4:30pm, I rang Virgin media, who in turn rang HDNL. HDNL’s stance was that although they had taken the trouble to text me with a timeslot, in reality it could be any time between 7am and 7pm! So what the hell was the point of the text? I took an afternoon off work to sit in waiting for bugger all. To add insult to injury, I just checked on the website using the track and trace number and the website claims it was delivered! Best of all, the time stated is 19:13. Very suspicious and quite obviously the driver is pulling a fast one. Probably fancied a free router. In short, this company is a joke.

  28. After a bit of routing customer service free phone number 0800 157 7777. Not very pleasant but mystery of non existent parcel sorted.

  29. Have waited in for two dayfor parcel from Amazon.
Trackin said two attempts had been made at delivery but it wasn’t at my address. Second day tracking said parcel had been delivered but it still was not my address. Amazon tried to sort it out but to no avail, Cancelled the order and went to PC World.

  30. SUCK YA MOMS
    SUCK YA DADS
    SUCK YA FAMILY
    -TOO MANY DICKHEADS AT HDNL-

WHY THE FUDGE CANT I PICK MY PACKAGE UP! ARE YOU FRIGGING MAD!? GO SORT IT OUT, YOU FAT LAZY SHITS…. EXCUSES EXCUSES I DON’T WANT TO HEAR THEM, FRANKLY YOUR ALL IDIOTS WHO CAN’T SEEM TO DO ANYTHING CORRECTLY, JUST CAUSE YOU CAN’T GET A BETTER JOB NO NEED TO TAKE IT OUT ON PEOPLE WITH BETTER JOBS YOU LOW-LIFE SCUM, PULL YOUR DICK OUT OF YOU’RE ARSES AND GET YOUR JOB DONE!!!!!

  31. LIES LIES LIES, that is what hdnl are all about, i ordered a set of uprated calipers for my car which cost £500 and after lots of lies regarding deliveries the first of which the driver never even knocked on the door he just posted a card through the door, i have been told that they have been lost!!!!
Lost from a secure locked cage that has a camera over it supposedly, my local depot Romford are absolutely useless and are totally incompetent. Do not use this company. Every time i have sold something on ebay i have used royal mail without a single problem, the one time i order something i really want and the seller uses these idiots it goes totally downhill.

  32. My husband’s birthday present has been held hostage by this company for a week.

BTW we called the number and it’s been disconnected. Looks like you’re making an impact on these crooks Mr Daz!

Let’s see if the power of Social Media can discontinue the use of this company by Amazon! JBM

  33. furious with HDNL I have been in for 2 days and they have left a card. I have been trying to call for 2 days at 10p per min over 20 times and I can not get through!!! Am not buying from the company OFFICE SHOES again as they use HDNL, I will email them to tell them this later.

  34. ok after 4 days of ridiculous phone calls to yodel’s 10p a minute line, I finally have some resolution.

They insisted the driver had delivered my package to my house and someone had signed for it. I said this was not the case. They ‘interviewed’ the driver and he said he did. When I protested this was impossible, they told me to contact my supplier, and that there was nothing they could do. Now my ‘supplier’ was a friend overseas who sent me a package, so I couldn’t take it up w my credit card company or anything. And who the hell ever heard of a courier service that claims no responsibility when they fail to deliver your package???

Basically, I went knocking on all the doors on my (very long) road and finally found my package- they delivered it six houses down. Now the driver had an option to tick, ‘left package w neighbor’ but did not, and the kept insisting to the depot that he left it at the right address and that I signed for it.

    Terrible customer service.

  35. I have ordered 3 beds and was expecting them all to be delivered together. Obviously I would be confused and concerned when one was missing, so phoned HDN at 10.30am was left on hold for 11 mins 22 seconds before the annoying voice telling me the advisers are busy suddenly said the office is closed and hung up on me. I am not amused.

  36. HDNL said they couldn’t find my address but upon phoning they promised a delivery 2 days later but after waiting in all day no sign of them.Mabe I should ask Amazon for a refund so somehing positive may happen

  37. HDNL – waste of space, had my item loaded onto a van 3 days in a row, still no show, cannot ring them to “arrange” a deliver as they have not given me a card so have no reference no, tried to ring them on 08448 111 816 but either engaged or no reply. emailed their press department today and amazon last night. Have asked Amazon not to use them again but they are obviously cheap so would imagine that will be ignored. I would urge everyone who is p*ssed off to email their press department demanding action, even if they don’t do anything, they will still have to receive and wade through the mails to get to the ones they need, it may prompt an internal revolt. Seriously though folks, this company is a joke. How can you not have a contact point for people that have not received their paid for goods nor a reference no. I think a little email to my MP is in order. Companies like this should be forced to close. Annoyed, you bet your ass I am!

  38. Here are some numbers for New Cross Depot (southeast London, central London and part of East London catchment area):

    020 7639 9979
    020 7732 2274
    020 7732 5595

  39. Nespresso has just switched from using FEDEX to this company ( now called YODEL ) to deliver coffee.

I know I can purchase cofee at Tesco – but Nespresso has a very good product ( that I wish I could just buy at Tesco ) and it is only available where I live ( Belfast ) by delivery.

My God what a bad experience I just had!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To top it off, I ended up receiving a long call yesterday from YODEL’s customer care from some Scouse fool who tried very hard to convince me the package was delivered on time since Ireland ( The Republic of ) had a holiday this week and Belfast is in Ireland.

No, I replied, Belfast is part of the UK, not Ireland – we had no holiday this week!

Yes , she replied, my family is from Ireland and I KNOW Belfast is in Ireland and not the UK.

This went on for a whole 45 minutes. What a complete and utter moron.

I am making Nespresso well aware that if my next shipment is from these clowns, not only wil it be my last but, I will ensure my new opinion of Nespresso can be found all over the internet!!!

  40. hdnl have got to be the worst company in the world! and thats no joke.
my first bad momment with them is when my item wasnt deliverd, and i only lived 2 mins away from there yate depot, so i called and asked if i could collect luckly they said yes so i went to collect. as i walked into the depot i was confrunted by a lage bloke smoking a fag, i said im here to collect my parcel, he said no problem as he flicked is fag on the floor and stomp it out in the warehouse! he then went and got my parcel and it was open, (well the outer box was) he then shouted out nice you got a ps3 i want one of them, i handed over my id then got the hell outta there. this was back in 2007. and they havent got any better im waiting for a tv they collected on a saterday and it was sent next day the tracking still says @ nottingham depot wtf these guys are all a bunch of school leaving idiots who got there driving skills and knolage off the back of a kornflake box.

  41. I ordered items from river island on tuesday and paid for express delivery. 2 days later still no parcel, i checked my tracking number and it said that the parcel has been delivered. No it has not!!
so i rand HDML and they said the item was posted at my address! no it hasnt i have been in all day!

They said they will have to interview the driver and get back to me.
How disgusting !! obviously the delivery driver robbed the parcel!
ANY DRIVERS DELIVERING TODAY IN THE MANCHESTER AREA!!!???

  42. I ordered a gift from Amazon for Father’s Day. I specifically ordered it on late Thursday afternoon, thinking it’ll be delivered on Saturday. Like some people, I work Monday to Friday and Saturday is the only day I can receive parcels.

Guess what! I logged on to my Amazon account and, get this….

Possible delay in delivery due to arrival at incorrect facility

I mean FOR F**K’s SAKE!! In this day and age of advanced navigational tools they still screw up a delivery by sending it to a different depot!

This is not the first time I’ve has problems with these incompetant bastards. Earlier this year I ordered an item from Amazon. I got a notification that the parcel got lost in transit, luckily Amazon sent me a replacement free of charge.

I’ve been shopping with Amazon for a few years now, I’m a Prime Member and overall their delivery record (for me in any case) has been very good and that has been their strongest selling point, fast and efficent delivery.

I’ve never had any problems whatsoever with the other courier companies they use, even the Royal Mail are way more decent.

Amazon. You’re a decent company, cancel your contract with these cowboys and get back to what made your company good (fast and efficent delivery) You will customers and in turn you will lose reputation.

  43. I’ve got a good one for you.
My package came this monday with HDNL, I wasn’t home so i missed it.
When I came home, in my mailbox there was a card from HDNL with a reference number and ” LEFT AT FRONT DOOR ” hand written on it. Left at front door ? I asked myself…they can’t be that stupid…who leaves a package that size outside, in plain sight, ?… might as well write ” PLEASE TAKE ME ! ” on it.
At first i thought neah, they couldn’t have. I went online, put the ref number in, had the package redelivered the next day…no luck…i was home all day, nothing .
I then called them…took me 20 bloody minutes to get through to someone.
He asked for my ref number, then said my ref number does not exist…huh !?…ok…I gave him my postcode adress, to which he replied : Yes, your package has been delivered on Monday…No shit, moron !
They gave me some bull that they have to find the driver and see where the package is and call me back in 48 hours…They never did and i didn;t either because i contacted Amazon which were beautiful and apologized and made another order for me at no cost. I am very impressed with Amazon.

From my emails with the amazon complaints department I think this idiot of a driver who was retarded enough to leave someone’s valuable package outside to be stolen, was the last straw and I believe Amazon will soon stop working with them.
    Good, they are incompetent.
They left a package for my wife under a bloody car a few weeks ago. Under a car ?, seriously…then said it was a safe place….are you F’n kidding me ?!, safe place, outside, under a car…pfffft

  44. Everyone who’s having problems with HDNL through Amazon, just e-mail Amazon.
They said they take full responsability for their deliveries from start to finish.
They were very fast and sent me the lost package again on their expense with specific delivery details for HDNL.
What a massive difference…Amazon’s customer service and that joke that HDNL calls customer service…

  45. Have I had some fun reading this page… a few posts up is a link (pingback) to a recent blog post / rant about the poor service at HDNL I received. I complained via email and letter and had a response from someone in the director’s office both via the phone and letter. This person was extremely apologetic for the cock up; the letter I sent was hilarious because I gave step-by-step directions in how to find my address, for a simpleton to find, even telling them where they could park there van and find access to the gate for a newly built apartment block which one might add is now 18 months old and is five minutes away from the Yodel / HDNL warehouse in Bolton!

HDNL are Yodel most people know this, last year they employed System Analyst to input a new system for tracking parcels. I know this because my cousin is one at their Liverpool base, mind you going off her command of English and attitude it is no wonder she ended up working for the likes of HDNL in the first place, my guess is no one else wanted the cow!

The response via letter from the manager was pretty standard to say the least, we shall speak with the depot we want to work with the depot to resolve problems!

Last week Amazon posted a parcel with HDNL via Rochdale, the same depot to cause the mistakes last time… the parcel actually arrived this morning, I was gobsmacked! Although the attitude of the driver was poor, my guess is she had been pulled up for not delivering the previous parcel, she looked like she had been slapped with a wet fish!

In all the comments I have read, I have laughed the most at the ones from the call centre staff at HDNL, one girl in particular said customers where in the wrong to order parcels days before Christmas and expect them to be delivered, this worker at HDNL obviously has not clear idea about HDNL and its sister companies work! I use to work for GUS, part of Shop Direct at their call centre, it was the worst job I had ever done in my life, it is all about meeting targets and the management do not give a crap about customers. As a telesales member of staff, one of my jobs was to actually phone customers days before Christmas to encourage them to buy things from the catalogues with a ‘Buy It Now Pay Later Offer’ and if the item was in stock which we would confirm they were guaranteed to get it delivered by Christmas Eve! That my friend is how the sister companies of HDNL work, so do not come the crap that the customers are in the wrong to order things at the last minute, it is all about the business wanting sales, and they will lie, they will make the staff lie to do anything to achieve targets. We actually use to get spot prizes on the telesales floor in Bolton for the biggest sale of the hour, and this did not just happen at Christmas, it was constant.

Having now worked in three call centres I can say GUS was without a doubt the worse for me, the others were just as bad, most of the management did not care about customers or their complaints. I have not worked in a call centre for 5 years and would never walk in one again.

The service at HDNL will never change, because so long as they undercut other delivery companies people will use them, regardless of the poor service they offer.

  46. 4th time I have waited in for an uplift from home delivery and no show. Twice apparantly they could not gain entry into the block of flats to leave a card even though the security door is broken so there is no way they could not have gained access to leave a card. 4th time they came the day before they were due to turn up and when I wasn’t in they didn’t even put the card through my door they just threw it halfway down the stairs. Company are disgusting and every time I order a home delivery I ask the company concerned which company they use. If the answer is HDNL – I cancel the order!

  47. HDNL claim parcel from Amazon was delivered to my address and signed for…..I can assure you, that’s a lie. Like many other comments here, I don’t understand why Amazon still use them.
