Bizare searches that bring traffic

I was just looking through the stats on some of my websites and came across what I thought to be the oddest Yahoo search yet to lead someone to one of my websites. Incredibly, a Yahoo search for the phrase ‘fuck off you c*nt‘ lead someone to find my chav bashing site www.YourCarIsShit.com.

I wonder what the person searching was actually hoping to find.

This shows the value of allowing comments on your website though. No matter how infantile the comments, they all help your long tail search queries.

MrDaz.com ranks #2 in Google for Chris Moat

Would you look at this. My quest to rank in Google for the name of the MD for Direct Line Insurance, Chris Moat is almost complete. MrDaz.com now ranks in Google.com and Google.co.uk at #2 for ‘Chris Moat’, prompting loads of angry Direct Line Insurance customers to find my site and leave their comments.

We should be #1 very soon. Ah, the simple pleasures of SEO.

Direct Line Google

I look forward to Direct Line Insurance themselves getting in touch with their thoughts.

Google says YES to cloaking

Doug the Ninja of the SEO Ninjas has found an interesting discovery on Google. It seems the boys from the G are allowing sites to advertise with them under their Adwords program for the term SEO, and all they do is build doorway pages and cloaking pages for their clients.

What this means is the website Google is promoting is in direct violation of their webmaster guidelines. Sounds like a little bit of hypocrisy to me.

GAME redesigns again

UK retailer, and my former employer, GAME has redesigned its website again. This always upsets me because every redesign they do takes it further and further away from the GAME I worked on. What’s worse, everytime they redesign I actually like it. This time is no exception. Their new site is stunning, and it’s SEO friendly.

Yup, their inhouse developers, while not playing World of Warcraft or Star Wars games have done a stellar job yet again. Nice one Tony and the lads.

Getting a generic term to #1 in Google

Now I’m not usually one to toot my own horn… yeah right. I’m more the sort to plug my horn into an amplifier, crank it up to full power and conduct a live webcast while I blast the crap out of it. So with that in mind, I just wanted to show some SEO muscle flexing. If you’ve got ’em, flex ’em; and why the hell not.

How hard is it to get a website to #1 in Google for a generic term? Well, try the term ‘Lingerie‘. You’ll see, or should do at the time of writing, that the website Lingerie Confidential is #1.

Here’s a screenshot of the SERPs

I’m not about to reveal how this was done obviously. What am I, a charity?

Dmoz take action against Transformers

It seems my ongoing dispute with the guys at Dmoz has taken a nasty turn for the worst. My calling them corrupt and insisting they abuse their power and take bribes for inclusions has caused them to lash out at me. How? The corrupt bastards have removed one of my sites from the directory. www.thetransformers.net has been in Dmoz for years, and is a 7 year old domain crammed with content, yet they, in their infinite corruption have decided to remove it.

I don’t mind really, it just shows how childish and corrupt they are. It won’t effect the site’s rankings one iota, so good luck Dmoz, we won’t miss you when you crumble.
