I’ve been using Stumble Upon lately (feel free to add me as a friend) to do some browsing, and obviously plug some content.
It wasn’t long before I had my first super stumble, which caused a server to crash after reaching over 17,000 visits! The lesson there? If you’re planning on some super viral marketing, make sure your server is up to the challenge.
Performing your own SEO on your websites isn’t difficult, all the information you need to do it effectively is already available on the Internet, for free. The real difficulty is in telling the fact from the fiction. Everyone has their own ideas, some of them good, some of them not so good and some of them that will just get your site banned.
With that in mind I’d like to present a list of some of the most prominent Internet SEO myths. If you’ve done any of these on your website you can kiss your traffic goodbye.

My ongoing battle to get DVD Reviews website WhatDVD.Net to rank in Google for the search term DVD Reviews is starting to reap rewards. It’s now page 2 of Google.com for DVD Reviews.

I was just checking up on some keywords I optimise some websites for, and was quite stunned – nay, in awe of hmv.co.uk’s ranking in google.co.uk for DVD. They’re #1, out of 1.2 Billion results.
Now that’s impressive.
How did they do this? It’s done through an awful lot of link building, as they have 5,000 indexed Google backlinks compared to just 108 from game.co.uk – who are a similarly sized company and website.
You see what you can achieve if you put in the work? dvd.co.uk, play.com and of course amazon.co.uk all rank inside the top 10 as well.
It’s sort of comforting to see the high street retailers getting to grips with ecommerce in a big way.
In an attempt to steer this blog back onto the topic for which it was created, I’m posting this link to the SEO contest results from last March.

My Google Bomb of illiterate solicitor for those monkies who are aiding the ex wife has gone #1 across the board. That’s Google, Yahoo and MSN. What I like to call a full house of SEO cards.
Why did I do this? For a giggle. How did I do this? Now that would be telling.
My Google Bomb landed on Yahoo earlier this week, and now it’s hit its target of Google itself. A search for illiterate solicitor brings up the ex wife’s (feels good to finally say that, ex wife) solicitor Everett Tomlin Lloyd and Twat at #1 in Google.
Easy when you know how.
It seems Yahoo is even easier and quicker to ‘Google Bomb’ than Google itself.
It took just 2 days for illiterate solicitor to show up as #1 in Yahoo. Top banana eh?
