Friendly emails

Just received this email from a chap named James Smith. This guys has a lot of time on his hands.

fuck you and your fucking 2 way gradients.   you are worse than a print designer.  i hope BT bills you again twice. and then manages to cancel both broadband lines so you have no internet and won’t be able to e-argue as much.

BT stagger me for incompetence again

If you remember my blogs about trying to get broadband with BT, and their constant poor customer service where they cut me off, transferred me the wrong department and failed at every level to do what they’re supposed to; you’ll be delighted to hear I phoned them again last night.

This time, I recorded it…

Have they improved? Well, if truth be told, they’ve got worse. Not only did they transfer me to the wrong department again, not only did I get cut off again, this time they ripped me off as well!

I attempted naively to transfer my phone and broadband to a new address, only this new address needs connecting. Seems that new builds have all had BT installed by default when they were built, but have not been connected; so to connect it BT are going to charge me for the installation… even though it has already been done!

124.99 pounds for something that has already been done by them when the house was built; just for the privilege of being one of their customers, it’s a bloody disgrace.

The arrogant sod on the phone suggested BT were being kind because they could charge customers the full mount, which was thousands. I did point out that customers wouldn’t actually pay that, but what the hell. He seemed to think it was fine.

What made matters worse was that I seem to currently be paying over 60 pounds for broadband and my phone, when I don’t actually use the phone line. He reduced my monthly bill, but not the level it should be, and refused to say whether I was in credit or not. I clearly am, because the only call I’ve made in the last 4 weeks was to BT, and that was a free phone number. Why can’t they just charge me for what I use, not for what they think is enough to cover my expenditures with a little extra thrown in for them?

I asked if I’ll get interest back from them when they calculate how much credit I have. Obviously not; this is how BT make their fucking profits. They hold onto your money for you so you can’t use it. Thieving bastards.

Anyway, the whole podcast will be online shortly – including my frustration at being cut off AGAIN by the useless bastards.

Why does this always happen to me?

Viral email crashes company’s email

Viral emails are a great method of marketing, but before you try them out for yourself be sure to carefully consider what you’re doing. Persimmon Homes didn’t, and an email sent out by them last week caused their entire network to go down for over a week.

If you received this email below, it was a hoax, ignore it. Do not forward it or reply to it. The person who originated this must feel pretty damn stupid right now.

Comedy Domain Names

Sometimes when you register a domain name the fact that the letters are all together can lead some unintentional, and humourous words. For example, domains like The Pen Is Mightier can become The Penis Mightier: thepenismightier.com.

Gas Heating.co.uk was something the owners really should have thought about, as GashEating.co.uk is the way it looks.

More domains like this can be found here.

Google clamps down on buying links

Google’s foremost blog merchant Matt Cutts announced a while back that Google would be clamping down on sites that buy and sell links in order to boost their Page Rank. The SEO community was divided on the boast, with critics claiming Google could never tell if a link was paid for.

Well, Google has today added a section to their webmaster tools where you can report sites that buy and sell links.

That could prove interesting, with webmasters all stabbing one another in the back.

Podcasts coming soon!

It was suggested by some work colleagues that I should record my phone conversations and offer them as downloads here. You see, they have to listen to me during lunch arguing with Direct Line, Royal Sun Alliance, the Inland Revenue, the CSA and loads of other morons on a daily basis, and my phone calls provide much amusement for them.

Well, having a HP Smartphone I thought I might as well do it, so I’ve just downloaded the software from here and will be recording my phonecalls over the coming weeks, then offering them here as podcasts. You lucky, lucky people!
