St Patrick’s Day

Last night I popped down to the local Irish themed watering hole for a quiet drink after work. Imagine my surprise when I found hundreds of people, all drinking heavily. I was stunned and slightly disgusted at the quantities of alcoholic beverages that were being consumed.

Naturally I joined in and got absolutely munted.

Happy Birthday Casey Jamieson

My youngest son, Casey, is 4 today. As I’m unable to see him and haven’t seen him since June last year I wanted to put this message up for him.

Happy birthday Casey, I wish I could be there for you and I hope you have a great day.

Hopefully Casey will see this one day and will know that I am thinking about him and I do want to see him.

My car is very poorly, poor little thing

I took my car into BMW Bluebell today for a service, and to look at the damage caused when I ploughed through the roundabout last Friday. I wasn’t expecting good news, but when they call you to come through to the garage to see the car up on the ramp; you know that’s gonna be bad.

Seems my wishbone is bent and the shocks are busted. There could be more, they haven’t taken it apart yet.

I’m now driving around in a Mitsubishi Colt with the body shop branding on the side which tells everyone that the person driving has already knackered one car, stay well away!

That car is cursed I tell you, cursed.

I’m quite comfortable with my spider phobia thank you

Ever since I can remember I’ve been afraid of spiders, just like millions of other people in the World. However unlike most of those people I’m quite comfortable with my fear as I don’t believe it’s an irrational one.

Spiders are after all the perfect predators and had they evolved at the same rate as humans we’d all be prey to them right now. The spider has a scale speed faster that the cheetah, it’s armoured, it can see in every direction at once with its eight eyes, it has fangs which many of them use to paralyse their victims with poison, it can walk on all surfaces upside down and its home (the web) is nothing but a trap for capturing its prey.

They are the perfect killers, the perfect predators. Therefore I’m quite comfortable with my phobia. Reading this article on how people can be cured of their spider phobias through hypnotherapy I did stop and think for a moment maybe I should give it a try, but then I thought; what do I need to be cured of this phobia for?

Am I going to pick up spiders? No chance. Do I need to be around spiders on a daily basis? Hell no. So why would I want to be cured of my fear of spiders?

I’m genuinely interested in the idea of being hypnotised, but I think I’ll keep my spider phobia if it’s all the same with you.

House for rent in Cwmbran

I haven’t been online for a few days because I’ve been back in Wales sorting out the last few details for my house, which I recently purchased in the divorce settlement. At long last the thing is up for rent, so if you’re looking for a house to rent in Cwmbran why not have a look.

It’s 3 story, and unlike what Darlows listed it as when they tried to sell it for my ex, it’s FOUR bedrooms (sneaky bastards trying to avoid the home information pack costs).

You’ve read the blogs, now live in the house!

Stockport school teacher suspended for smut role

A local school teacher down the road from me at Stockport Grammar School has been suspended after students found a video she’d made years before starting her teaching role, on YouTube.

The video is a raunchy advert for Scruffs work clothing and shows her playing a secretary getting a vigorous workout by a builder, while demonstrating the safety aspect of his clothing. The advert was never shown on TV and was instead used as a promo video for the clothing firm. It’s getting some exposure now!

Suspending Sarah Green seems a little harsh as this isn’t porn, it’s just an advert she made as part of an acting job. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about here, so I hope she returns to work soon. I wouldn’t mind meeting her at parents evening either, I think enrolments would go up at Stockport Grammar if she goes back.

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

Thanks to About Blank for finding this one, and on the Metro website.

Write a guest post on MrDaz.com

One thing I’ve noticed from having a high profile blog such as MrDaz.com is that when you have something to complain about, people listen. They take note.

If you don’t have a voice getting justice from companies that like to ignore your very existence can be difficult. When their actions, negligence or incompetence goes public however, and thousands of people start seeing just what has been happening, you’ll find action is taken.

Royal & SunAlliance are living testament to that. They went from ignoring me and declaring they weren’t responsible for my car, to paying for it to be picked up in Wales, driven 200 miles and repaired while they gave me a courtesy car.

They’re just one of many. What I’d like to hear though is if anyone has any stories to tell, any complaints, any grievances. If you’re having trouble with an insurance company, with the CSA, with the council… whatever, I want to hear about it.

Your post can be any length, just let me have it. Send your posts to darth_daz AT hotmail dot com (written like that to stop the spam bots).

Remember to include your name, the subject of your post and any links to websites you’re mentioning. If you have a website yourself I’ll give you a link as well. One thing though, it must be original. It can’t have been posted anywhere else on the Internet.

If it’s good enough I’ll guest post it here.

So send me your stories, you could see some action very soon.

eee PC

Just before Christmas I ordered one of the new Asus Eee PCs from Amazon.co.uk, through a marketplace seller called BUG Computer Components – who are based in Germany.

Some weeks went by and I never received anything. My efforts to contact Bug proved fruitless as they never replied. Naturally I was concerned as I’d ordered something in excess of £200 and had received no contact from the seller. I emailed Amazon about it and they sent me a stock reply saying to contact Bug.

Not good enough.

I replied to Amazon and stated how Bug had not replied to me and that I wanted my order cancelled immediately so I could order it from somewhere else. Amazon did so this time, insisting I would get confirmation of this from Bug. Naturally I didn’t receive anything from Bug, and still haven’t to this day. I’d advise anyone to stay away from them when ordering items on Amazon’s marketplace.

I then ordered the same Eee PC from Aria.co.uk, based down the road in Manchester. Within one hour of ordering I received an email stating my order had been dispatched. Now that’s better, but let’s not count those chickens.

The package arrived before 9:00am on Monday morning, the next working day. Superb! When I plugged it in however the Eee PC asked me for a password for Natalie Coward.

Ummmm?

That’s right, they’d sent me a returned stock item instead of a new one. One that I couldn’t use because it was password protected. This was someone else’s computer!

Luckily they were very fast at rectifying their mistake and turned up later that afternoon to make the switch. So, what about the Eee PC itself?

I’ll review that little sucker in the next few days after I’ve had a chance to use it some more, and I’ll even write the review with it… unless it annoys me too much.
