Steven Seagal World Tour

This is not a joke, at least not one by me. Steven Seagal is embarking on a world tour, taking in such places as Swansea, Liverpool, Tunbridge Wells and Cardiff.

You can see the full list of venues over at www.stevenseagal.com (obviously that’s your homepage anyway).

Seagal

He’ll be in my area on February 18th – now can I convince anyone to go? I would assume not, but of course, as Seagal himself taught us, Assumption is the mother of all fuck-ups.

Oscar nominations

The Oscar nominations are out, and the pick of them can be seen here:

Best picture

Best director
Clint Eastwood, Letters From Iwo Jima

Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu, Babel
Martin Scorsese, The Departed

Best actor

Best actress
Penelope Cruz, Volver

Helen Mirren, The Queen
Meryl Streep, The Devil Wears Prada
Kate Winslet, Little Children

Full list here…

Now, the thing that pisses me off is why Little Miss Sunshine is nominated for best film, but the director isn’t up for best director. How can something be gauged good enough for a best film award, if the guy who made it isn’t good enough for a best director award???

If I’d made a film that was up for best picture, and I wasn’t up for the director gong I’d be kicking off bigstyle – but I reckon the chances of Cop on the Edge winning best picture are slim.

1and1’s latest bullshit excuse

For those following the progress of Internet hosting company 1and1’s email screw up this week, the story has taken a comedic yet not entirely unexpected turn.

Internet Geek news The Register has posted its third installment of the news, where some soon to be ex customers of 1and1 have vented their anger.

The real humour comes however from 1and1 themselves, who have passed off this monumental cock up as nothing more than planned server upgrading and maintenance.

Following an important update to our mail server software and the subsequent restart of the mail servers, there have unfortunately been delays in the delivery of inbound email to your mail boxes.

Now don’t bullshit me guys, I’ve used that excuse to clients before myself (any clients reading this, just kidding!).

Oh yes, honestly, your service has been down all week because we’re improving our service to make things better for you, instead of the truth, some pizza faced twat has spilled his coke in the server room and fucked up all of the hardware.

Morons.

The Joost is loose, around the, er, Internet

Ever wondered what the next HUGE website will be? Ever thought it would be cool to get in on the ground level of a new Internet phenominon before it took off? Well, now’s your chance, and this isn’t some pitch for my own stuff either.

The creators of Skype (sure you’ve heard of that) are in Beta testing of their latest get obscenely rich scheme, this time named Joost. Check it out here, sign up for Beta testing and find out what will be selling to Google or Yahoo in a few years time for several hundred million dollars.

1and1 Internet still buggered

Internet nerd site The Register reported today that 1and1 Internet have been pissing off their customers for the second time this week.

Hosting and email provider 1and1 has annoyed its customers for the second time this week with patchy service.

The Register has been contacted by a dozen irate 1and1 customers, all complaining that their inability to access email, which the firm told us it had sorted on Tuesday, had resurfaced.

Many have had trouble contacting the firm. Our own call was sent to hold music for several minutes and then went dead. A recorded message informs callers the firm is working on a technical fault and is hoping to have normal service resumed “as soon as possible”.

Readers report both POP3 and SMTP are a no-go.

Reader Craig said:

The last email I received properly was 11:11 this morning, and I just get a send & receive error in Outlook when I try. Their webmail interface just gives a HTTP 500 Internal Server Error too!
And Mark asks asks what we’re itching to know too: “Any idea what’s behind their bullsh*t excuses?”

Of course, this isn’t the second time 1and1 have pissed off their customers this week. It’s the first, because they never fixed the sodding problem in the first place. I phoned them this morning, and got an engaged tone on their support line, so phoned their sales line – and naturally got through.

Someone promissed that everything would be sorted by this afternoon, and mumbled something about them jumping the gun with their earlier optimism about the problem being fixed. We’ll see about that eh?

Don’t hassle the hoff, or me

The HoffJust been looking for a costume for a Super Hero related pub crawl, and I came across this.

Is it not the greatest costume you’ve ever seen?

My good lady tells me that the Hoff isn’t a super hero, but clearly she’s mistaken. I’m not going to buy the costume from this shop, as I’ve got all of the seperate parts myself already, including the wig.

So if you’re out an about in Leeds on February 15th, and you happen to see the Hoff walking your way – it’s me!
