Fancy some free stuff?

Sponsored Review

If like me you love loads of pointless free stuff (and let’s face it, who the monkey in hell doesn’t?) you’ll be interested a site that gives away stuff with no catch.
Sounds like right old load of politician’s promises doesn’t it? Well the website is called whogets.com, and the system is simple. You register for an account, pick what free stuff you want and then add your name to the pool. Contestants, or blaggers of free stuff as like to call them, are then randomly selected to the ‘semi final’ draw, where you make a short statement about why you should win, and the rest is up to the public to vote.

Surely it can’t be this simple?

Well, it is. Of course the more friends or online communities you belong to the more likely you are to win, as by sending over your army of hoodlums to vote for you will surely help you bring home the proverbial bacon.

Prizes range from $10 to a more substantial $600 and include things such as video games and mobile phones.

I’m heading over there now for some cheapskate Christmas shopping, but as my shopping list consists solely of things for me I should do quite well out of it!

Google search results change

As Just Search reported last week, Google has changed the way it displays its results to encorporate videos, news, images and blogs into its normal results.

How does this effect things for the rest of us? Well, I didn’t like the idea at first because it means search results will be more competative and it’ll be harder to get that front page for searches like ‘Transformers’. However, a quick Google on my own name (see, I do this a lot) shows a rather funky video of me.

I’ve changed my mind, I quite like it now.

Scouser’s Keyboard

As Man UTD failed so boringly to win the FA Cup, and with the impending Champions League final this Wednesday featuring Liverpool, it was inevitable there’d be a little Manc humour headed my way this week.

This little gem came from my own girlfriend! Bloody Mancs.

Funny though, the Scouser’s keyboard:

FA Cup Final

I’d just like to lend my support to Chelski in today’s FA Cup Final, the first at the new Wembley.

I don’t particularly like Chelski, but can’t stand Man UTD, so come on you blues. Living in Manc land I get some serious gloating material should Chelski win today.

Of course the real deal is Wednesday night when Liverpool go for their 6th European Cup. Beat that United!

Jo Lancastle

I was just googling my name, as I tend to do and I found a CV from an actress named Jo Lancastle who appeared in my graduation film back in… ooh, when was it… 1998. The film was called ‘All or Nothing’ and also starred Richard Nichols, who’s done quite a bit of Welsh TV since.

If you’re lucky I may upload the film someday, although it’s just too long for YouTube as they don’t allow films over 10 minutes anymore.

I’m not sure what I was more surprised at: finding the CV online or finding that she’d added my film to it. Anyway I’m glad I found it, she’s a great actress and has been in Doctor Who and Torchwood several times since.

Great work Jo!

Logo Tree Logo Design

Sponsored Review

The first impression anyone gets of your company image tends to be your business logo, take Mr Daz for example. Our logo was based on a caricature by local Welsh designer Aled Williams and captures the essence of our site perfectly… whatever that may be.

If you’re looking for logo design the other side of the pond however you could try Logo Tree. Their site features a huge list of logo samples; all of them pretty top quality. A logo designer stands and falls by the quality of their work, and you can view all of their recent work in their gallery here.

Logo Tree

Unlike some secretive designers Logo Tree’s website features an explanation of the design process, so you know just how much work goes into the creation of your logo and what you’re paying for at the end of the day. I’ve know some designers to copy their designs out of books, so it’s nice to see some methodology in these guys work.

One of the best features of Logo Tree is that they offer animated logos, perfect for websites or media companies.

Prices start at just under $600 for their ‘essential package’ and feature 9 different logos to choose from. See their full range of prices here.
