Tariq Zaman
I was just talking to some students from Leeds the other night, after the BBC Watchdog programme about Tariq Zaman and Providence Properties. It seems that the student union is well aware of both Providence Properties and Tariq Zaman, and has contacted him on numerous occasions to get deposits back that rightfully belong to students, without any joy.
It’s disgusting how someone can exploit the needs of students for accommodation, and can steal their money, in the way that Tariq Zaman and Providence Properties seem to have done.
As I mentioned in my last post, I’m a landlord myself and wouldn’t be able to sleep at night if I just stole people’s money and avoided the courts when they ruled against me. In my opinion it’s because of people like Tariq Zaman, and Providence Properties, that the housing market is so low at the moment. By having over 600 hundred properties, as Providence Properties state on their website, regular folk can’t afford to buy a house, and when students graduate and can’t their deposits back as Watchdog state, they’re starting life off with another debt on top of their student debts.
Providence Properties should be run out of business for their actions if they’re true, and hopefully as a result of the BBC Watchdog programme, coverage online and the help of Leeds University, students will boycott them.
More importantly, if landlords boycott the service they offer they’ll go out of business. There are many decent letting agents around, without having to use Tariq Zaman and Providence Properties.

Students are told to use Unipol to find a property, and Providence Properties are definitely not on their list. But unfortunately this bad press won’t harm them, because they’ll just come back next year with a different name. It happens all the time. But if you use Unipol, you avoid all these problems!
Perhaps the courts should consider repossessing some of these 600 properties, or all of them, to pay the students back and sell at auction to first time buyers at a reduced price!
The most annoying thing about the whole case is that even though everyone now knows they are operating through this new company, nothing can be done. As far as the law is concerned they are 2 different companies. The phone number for Providence Properties no longer works since their move to ‘new prestige offices’ in Leeds city centre, no one can talk to them there and they are no longer advertising properties on their website. It looks like Providence are purposefully winding it all down and moving to Myhomez.
i’d feel sorry for these guys if all us students turned up at their house demanding our money, but scary thing is they’d get us all done by the police for harrassment.

The only sense the watchdog people has is to remove all allegations relating to my homez from their site because they realise the big sh*t people making allegations linking the companies are getting themselves into. Hahahahahahaha!!!! Listen to J Kennedy (is your middle initial “F”, by any chance?) telling Daz how to get credibility for “this kind of site” you clearly know nothing of what the content of this site is about.
It is a bit like watchdog, really…. exposes people and so called businesses for what they are. The only difference being that Mr Daz is not afraid to tell it like it is, and allows this space of his as a springboard for others to do likewise.
As for the prat posting under the guise of David, your lack of legal knowledge is as obvious as your linking to the posting under J Kennedy. He whom speaks must first think. Obviously applies to everyone but you. Just like the law only appears to apply to certain individuals.
Oh, and by the way you do not know ever poster’s address, you certainly do not know mine. You cannot derive an address from a single posting unless said address has been typed out or referred to for all and sundry to see. If you know so much, go on then have a look-see deep into your crystal ball and tell me who I am and where I live. I want my full name and full address. I’ll bet a penny to a pound you could not manage to even produce my local residential area, let alone any further personal details.
In order to pursue any court action, you must first be able to provide the name and full address of the person you intend to sue. Until you can actually physically produce my name and residential address, and everyone else on here who has made a comment you happen to disagree with, there IS no case for libel, or defamation.
In addition, the allegations appear to be far from incorrect. This company has been to court on several occasions I believe. And several cases have not ruled in their favour, have they? Libel and defamation. Indeed.
It genuinely makes me laugh when people think they are more knowledgeable than they actually are and trip themselves up in a poor attempt to verify it.

Hey everyone, I want to thank Mr Daz for taking up our plight and supporting those of us screwed over by Providence and let down by the law.
I just want to say though that I think everyone needs to keep a cool head when posting because we sort of need to rise above the criminals who have stolen our money and who do business in such a rude and aggressive way. This means being careful what you say (e.g. linking the family with brothels) and writing messages that don’t have fucker or twat as the main vocab. I know it’s the most frustrating thing…I want to scream and punch things when I think about the situation. It’s not just that I’m now minus £300 that annoys me, it’s the fact that these people have practically commited daylight robbery and gotten away with it. But remember guys, students (the main victims of this case) are intelligent people and I think we can think of better ways of arguing our point than by swearing or throwing around accusations of prostitution. In some ways they aren’t really relevant to the issue. The issue is that these people have seemingly spent money that should have either come back to us or gone to the landlord, and seem to have no remorse whatsoever.
Anyway, that’s just my opinion. I hope people see this as a sensible suggestion and not an attack on anyone in particular because I think anyone speaking out for the cause is great. I just think it makes us look better as the real victims in all of this if people write intelligent posts that show posters like David aka J Kennedy as the idiots (and probably staff of PP) that they are.
I can’t believe that David/J Kennedy has the audacity to threaten legal action on us! Not when Providence and Mr Zaman have so many unpaid CCJs against them! As if taking our money and running isn’t enough they now want to sue us for defamation. I think not.
