Cheshire SEO company ‘You Media’ using spam link building tactics

In another exposé of companies using black hat link building tactics, it is with some relish that I can now offer up a supposed SEO company based in Cheshire using spam comments to build links for their own website.

On the network of blogs that I run I get hundreds of comments each day, and companies that employ spam link builders to post nonsense, badly written comments in an effort to build links to their website are like a red rag to me. This latest company is a Cheshire based firm offering web design and ‘white hat’ SEO services. Obviously their SEO services aren’t quite as white hat as they claim, if the following blog comment is anything to go by:

Name: cheshire web design
IP Addfress:
Date: Submitted on 2011/11/16 at 8:31 am

I differ with a lot of individuals right here; I ran across this web site submit We couldn’t leave right up until I completed, though it wasn’t precisely what I had been searching for, had been a great go through however. Let me instantaneously get the weblog supply to remain in effect of the improvements.

The name for the comment was ‘cheshire web design’, the keyword for which they’re trying to rank, and the email address used is a disposable Yahoo email (probably created by a foreign ‘link builder’). The comment itself is gibberish, and has probably been run through spinning software, translation software or just crafted by someone with a passing knowledge of English. Indeed, if you simply Google the first line of the comment you’ll see a number of examples where this dross has been published, linking to other websites that have also used the same link building company.

Rather that create quality back links for them, this gibberish has merely served to expose the black hat SEO tactics they employ, and the fact that they evidently use foreign suppliers for their link building (or they employ link builders who really cannot write intelligibly).

Good work You Media, your ‘white hat’ SEO skills are indeed impressive.

  1. Just found another comment from these idiots on a different website I administer… bloody spammers. What really annoys me is that some people might use these muppets for SEO, not realising how bad their tactics are.

“Great job for posting this type of beneficial blog site. Your blog isn’t merely educational but additionally very inventive way too. Presently there tend to be incredibly number of those who can write less than easy content in which wonderfully. Maintain inside the good composing !!”

  2. Hi Darren,

I am writing in regards to the aggressive nature of the above blog post above.

I must first state that the sole trader company back then had been running for a matter of weeks in that vein and the seo tactics employed were merely a test of some services which were soon to be discovered to be badly employed. I also apologise for this tested service for spamming your blog.

The company would never use such tactics for clients and my testing out on my own sites to see what happened should not reflect on the services we employ or test on a range of sites that we have, that is part of the game of seo is it not?

I don’t really appreciate being called a “muppet” or “idiot” and would respectfully request this post be removed for it’s aggressive nature, as stated before my testing of services years ago on my own sites does not in any way reflect what we do with clients, we are completely manual in process with them (testing proving this is still the only way) with only proven manual tactics being employed.

I understand that you are trying to give insight to a type of company here but mine does not fit that bill and the slanderous nature of this post is not appreciated, I request this be removed or I will need to explore other avenues in order to find a way for this to be sanctioned,

    Kind Regards,

  3. It took you nearly four years to find this comment? Nice work.

First off, the fact your company was ‘new’ was irrelevant and, in fact, makes it worse. You were, and still are, offering SEO services as though you’re some sort of expert when in fact you know absolutely nothing about SEO. A quote from your website:

Chris started the company in 2011, with a BA (hons) in music Chris transferred his skill sets to creative design, web design and search engine optimisation working with many clients across the UK.

Anyone who goes around posting spam comments to blogs using keyword anchor texts clearly has no idea what they’re doing. Additionally, your comment suggesting that posting spam comments as a test is ‘part of the game of SEO’ is ludicrous. Might I remind you this was 2011, not 2005 (in 2005, by the way, I still had more online marketing experience than you have now).

The industry has enough of a bad reputation as it is, without people offering their services to clients and claiming to be experts when the level of knowledge they have is a fast route to getting a website penalised in Google.

Incidentally, written comments are not slander. Slander is spoken, when it is written it is libel. For it to be libel it also needs to be untrue, which this isn’t.

  4. Hi Darren,

I do find it upsetting that your attacking me personally here with such venom, I have worked incredibly hard to build a business with no money which to this day has served numerous happy clients across all services provided, I pride my self in creating such a company and biased unfounded comments like this are just not required. I understand what your original post was getting at but it was the way in which you attacked me which is upsetting, your choice of wording on your first comment and making sure in every way this was seen by then tweeting with childish remarks just shows that i’m not going to get anywhere here.

My SEO services in 2011 were, for clients, done by reputable friends who have been in the industry for a long time so please don’t claim to have more knowledge than my company the company had no knowledge, I have on top personally ranked multiple sites that have been passed to me whether affiliate sites, lead generation or the actual businesses websites with nothing but happy customers, results and ROI. Your remark of me knowing nothing is both unfounded and ridiculous.

To comment I am completely aware of the use of direct anchors in 2011 and that particular test at the time was to be 1-4% of the keyword with good citation and trust flow already being installed with url brand etc etc as the main, something that worked very well and long term at the time, unfortunately with this test I was sold senuke comments as manual ones hence you getting that generated comment, but as stated this was a test which yes was done wrong by this part of the service bought but thats why it was done on one of my own sites, I still have over 30 sites which are tested on with variables in all sorts of ways so to keep a pulse of how the algorithms are working.

I don’t wish to get into any further debate but hope you understand the hard work that goes into building businesses, I have a very good business which has a good reputation and ultimately gets the results/designs/online results that clients need, your comments were attacking my reputation with no founding apart from you receiving a spam comment which has been clearly explained above, I just hope you understand the hurt that can be caused and it is directed at a sincere and hard working person who is not and “muppet” or “idiot,

All the best for the future,

  5. Sorry missed wording in the above paragraph:

“My SEO services in 2011 were, for clients, done by reputable friends who have been in the industry for a long time so please don’t claim to have more knowledge than my company and that the company had no knowledge”
