Hi guys, ive been duped by computeach myself.i signed up in 2005 for the comptia a+ leading to mcsa, total £6152 borrowed from marehill finance, who it turns out are computeachs partners in moral crime.
I say moral because i too was promised high earnings and great training.i got the a+ back in 2006,the mcsa material was irrelavant poor quality and the support from computeach was non existant.
On these grounds i asked computeach to refund me for the mcsa and they refused.
Their salesman was very pushy and i was a 32 year old man with 3 young children, poor credit so i couldnt get a loan for the course, thats when the salesman signed me upto marehill finance and their 21.2% apr.
i still owe about 2k and have tried everything to get out of paying for something which i have not recieved i.e the mcsa and high paid job.
what computeach and marehill do is nothing short of legal robbery and totally morally bankrupt.
unfortunately it looks like i will have to pay the remaining 2 k eventually but other people need to be warned.

Yeah, I'd say they did. Probably trying to sell more training. You don't 'need' any qualification to be a programmer, just a desire to learn. Some of the best programmers, developers and web designers are self taught. I've interviewed a number of developers over the years, and the self taught ones usually have a broader range of skills and a greater willingness to advance than those who have degrees and have been spoon fed on courses.

Ah I see what you mean now.
But in my first post I suppose I was trying to establish (admittedly I did not say it) did Computeach mislead me when I told them I wanted to learn programming but they advised the best way to go about this was to do th A+ first, was I conned into a course that really had very little to do with programming?

The Internet Andy, the Internet. You'll find all you need for free online about learning PHP, ASP.Net, VB Script and many other programming languages. You don't need to enrol on a course that will most likely be out-dated before it even completes.

Not sure what you mean about not paying Computeach? If I was brand new to the IT world how would I start to learn about programming if I did not choose some one to teach me?

No Andy, but then you don't need to pay Computeach to be a programmer either.

I initially contacted Computeach because I was interested in computer programming, they advised the best way was to complete the A+ first, do you really need the A+ to be a progammer?

Yes you get out of it what you put in.
I would recommend taking your ambitions and get involved with night courses at your local college etc. You could learn the same stuff as Computeach teachs for a tenth the cost. You could take the money you saved, spend it on useful books etc and have enough left over for a really nice holiday somewhere abroad.
Don't give Computeach your money. They are a middleman that brings together the availablity of career development loans and naive ambition. The banks that allow this should be ashamed (mind you I doubt they have any shame left). I thought it was odd when the Computeach salesperson actually brought round the CDL form, you never even talk to the bank yourself about it.
All very strange. Now I know why. I was conned by them back in 2001 and I see they are still running this scam.
I have since become successful and through my own hard work, there are no short cuts. Computeach isn't a short cut to anywhere, it will set you back 4 grand and give you nothing to show for it.
Take that 4 grand and spend it on some real education, please.
