Banned BMW Ad

This is pretty cool, I can see why it was banned though. Great thing is for BMW is even though this ad was banned it still creates waves and PR for BMW around the Internet.

  1. [..YouTube..] Well if their F1 cars are struggling to match anywhere near that, I doubt their road cars can do it.

  2. [..YouTube..] Today the Bentley Flying Spur is the fastest 4door saloon car. The “standard” M5 is limited to 154 mph.

  3. [..YouTube..] the m5 when deristricted will touch at least 180 if not more than that i dont see y cars are restricted das annoying anyway a 535i can do 160 when deristricted i know im agine what an m5 could go up 2 m5’s are amazing man

  4. [..YouTube..] I owned an E39 BMW M5 (that was unrestricted) for two and a half years. The Top Speed is 186mph without the electronic restriction. This is faster than the Lotus Carlton’s 174mph claimed. I now have an e46 M3 but in truth I preferred my M5 all around, so may change again to a new shape M5 next year, again I’ll want the restrictions lifting.

  6. [..YouTube..] It was banned, because it lied:
this car was never the fastest saloon-car in the world.

As you see, the spot shows the BMW M5 Type E39. This car came out 1998. But in September 1996, the BRABUS E V12 set the Speed-Record for the fastest saloon-car at 330,4km/h. BRABUS is not only a tuner – it’s a manufacturer. The E V12 is produced in a small series-production. You can order it by stock.

Nice idea – but wrong facts.
The agency should have researched better before shooting this spot.

  8. [..YouTube..] as good as it is, but the reason why it was banned was because it was advertising something the product (in this case the m5) couldnt do and rules and regulations say that it should only advertise what the product is capable of doing. its called “trade description act”

  9. [..YouTube..] lol but thats theyre slogan and everyone knows thats not what they mean “gives u wings” means gives u a lot of energy 2 do stuff.

  10. [..YouTube..] sweet ad, i belive it got banned because of what looks the german cross on the chute used in the world wars. shame as it is allmost true to the car. and one of the best bmw ads ive ever seen.

  11. [..YouTube..] That was a good commercial, i really love the soundwork. I’m not seeing a “german cross”; if anything i’d imagine it’d be banned because it shows a car going over 9000 inches per second.
